Lace

A few months ago I flew out to LA to do a little housekeeping.  I may have mentioned that I lived there for a very brief moment and when I left, I left a lot of my belongings in a storage space.  After four years I barely remembered what was left behind but what I found was a pleasant surprise.  Having worked in the home textiles industry for a long time, I had acquired a lot of fabric.  Some were just little bits or cuttings and others were larger pieces I had been holding onto for the next grand project.  As I sorted through the boxes, I sifted through some beauties I had worked on.  One of them was a fairly large piece of linen with mid scale lace medallions embroidered on it.  The embroidery was a tonal ivory color on a matching linen ground.  All I have to say is, “Gorgeous”!  And so glad I went back for it.

The fabric was inspired by a lace trend going on in fashion at the time.  I used the fabric to make a curtain for my kitchen window.  It was the perfect fit as there was not enough fabric for more than one window and it was the perfect complement to my very simple kitchen.  It also does a nice job of maintaining privacy while letting in sunlight.

Take a look at how well lace looks in the home.
