Happy Valentine’s Day!
I have never been a huge fan of this holiday since I have probably spent most of my Valentine’s Days as a single girl (it’s actually ok, I’m not bitter about it), but I must admit there is something I am drawn to…especially this year. Perhaps it’s all the crafty gift and decorating ideas. Maybe it’s all the heart shaped things everywhere. Maybe it’s just the sentiment behind the holiday. Perhaps, but when I really think about it, I think it’s all about the colors for me. I love seeing so much pink everywhere!
For my part, here is how I’m adding a bit of pink to the world or at least to my apartment. Carnations. I’m bringing carnations into my home. Carnations have always reminded me of growing up. My mother used to decorate our home with them. I think at the time I thought they were pretty enough but as I got older I associated carnations as being inexpensive and boring flowers you could find at a corner bodega. Well, you can find them at corner bodegas and they are still the least expensive flowers of the bunch. But, after seeing my sister create a very pretty and simple floral display using carnations, I quickly ran to the nearest bodega to pick some up. Here are some of my lovely creations….enjoy and Happy Valentine’s Day!
